This Privacy Policy explains how WakeMe Technologies AB (“WakeMe”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you use the WakeMe mobile application for iOS or Android (the “App”) together with a WakeMe alarm clock device.

This policy applies to the WakeMe App. Our website, online store, payments, shipping and customer service may involve additional privacy information on our website.

2. Short summary

The WakeMe App is designed to work mainly locally between your phone and your WakeMe device using Bluetooth.

You do not need to create a WakeMe account to use the App. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your WakeMe alarm settings for advertising. We do not intentionally collect your precise location.

Some information may still be processed when the App needs to connect to your WakeMe device, when you contact support, when app stores or payment providers process downloads or purchases, or when crash reports and diagnostics are generated by platform services or third-party tools used in the App.

3. Information handled by the App

WakeMe settings and device data

The App is used to configure and control your WakeMe device. This may include information such as:

  • alarm times, alarm schedules and alarm settings;

  • wake-up light, sound, volume and snooze settings;

  • ScrollStop and mission-related settings;

  • device name, device identifier, product version and firmware version;

  • device status information, such as power state, battery state, connection state and update status;

  • sensor values from the WakeMe device, such as ambient light and temperature, if supported by your device and app version.

This information is primarily stored locally on your phone and/or on your WakeMe device so that the App and the device can function. It is not used by WakeMe for advertising.

Bluetooth and permissions

The App uses Bluetooth to find, connect to and communicate with your WakeMe device.

On Android, Bluetooth scanning may require location-related permissions depending on Android version and device manufacturer behavior. The App does not use these permissions to track your location, and WakeMe does not intentionally collect or store your precise location through the App.

The App may also ask for notification permissions if a feature needs to show reminders, status updates or other app notifications. You can control app permissions in your phone settings.

Diagnostics and crash information

If the App crashes or encounters technical problems, diagnostic information may be collected through Apple, Google or other service providers used to distribute, operate or improve the App. This may include information such as:

  • app version;

  • operating system version;

  • phone model;

  • time and date of the event;

  • technical logs and crash details;

  • general technical identifiers used for diagnostics.

We use this information to find bugs, improve stability and provide support.

Support information

If you contact us for support, we may process the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, order information, screenshots, device information, app logs or a description of your problem. We use this information to answer your request and provide customer support.

Purchases and app store information

The App may be downloaded through Apple App Store or Google Play.

The iOS version of the App does not currently include in-app purchases. The Android version may include paid features, in-app purchases or similar functionality. Android purchases are processed by Google Play. We may receive limited purchase or receipt information needed to confirm the purchase, prevent fraud, restore purchases or provide the purchased feature.

Google processes payment information under its own terms and privacy policies. WakeMe does not receive your full payment card details from Google.

Health and fitness information

Some versions of the App may include optional features that use Apple Watch, fitness activity, heart rate or workout-related information to help verify that a wake-up mission has been completed.

If you choose to use such a feature, the App may process the information needed to provide that feature, such as heart rate status, workout progress or whether the mission goal has been reached. This information is used to operate the selected feature and is not used by WakeMe for advertising.

If this functionality uses Apple Health, HealthKit or similar platform services, access is controlled by your phone and watch settings. You can change or revoke permissions in the relevant Apple or device settings.

4. How we use information

We use information only for purposes connected to the App and WakeMe device, including to:

  • provide the App and its core functions;

  • connect your phone to your WakeMe device;

  • save and apply your WakeMe settings;

  • show device status and sensor information;

  • provide firmware updates where supported;

  • troubleshoot bugs and improve app reliability;

  • answer support requests;

  • protect the App, the WakeMe device and our users from misuse or technical errors;

  • comply with legal obligations.

5. Legal basis for users in the EEA/UK

Where GDPR or similar privacy laws apply, our legal bases may include:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the App and WakeMe device functionality you request.

  • Legitimate interests: to maintain, secure, troubleshoot and improve the App and our services.

  • Consent: where your consent is required, for example for certain permissions, optional diagnostics or marketing communications.

  • Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information to comply with applicable law.

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal data.

We may share limited information with service providers when necessary to provide, operate, analyze or support the App. This may include, depending on the platform and app version:

  • Apple App Store and related Apple services;

  • Google Play, Google Play Services and related Google services;

  • crash reporting, diagnostics, hosting or support providers;

  • payment and purchase validation services where applicable;

  • professional advisors or authorities if required by law.

Service providers are only allowed to process information for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law.

7. International transfers

Some service providers may process information outside Sweden or the European Economic Area. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

Support emails and related information are normally kept for as long as needed to handle the support matter and maintain a reasonable record of previous support communication. Diagnostic information is normally kept only for as long as needed to analyze and fix technical issues. Information stored locally in the App or on the WakeMe device remains there until you delete it, reset the App, reset the device or remove the App from your phone.

9. Your choices and rights

You can control app permissions, such as Bluetooth, location-related permissions and notifications, in your phone settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, and you may have the right to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

10. Children’s privacy

The App is not intended to be used by young children without involvement from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the App and our services. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
